Installing Roofing Child Theme
Requirements
Before we begin, make sure you have Divi installed on WordPress before installing this child theme. Do this on a fresh WordPress installation.
Important: Only install the Divi theme, not the Divi builder (the Divi theme includes the Divi builder if you install both then this can cause conflicts).
When building the website I recommend not to use any caching plugins. When finished building the website you can install them.
The Divi theme is not included in this package. To download Divi, you must have an Elegant Themes Membership.
Images have been replaced due to licensing.
The page links from buttons and logo are removed, so you need to relink those to the right pages.
Step 1
Download and unzip the ‘Roofing_Divi_Child_Theme_UNPACKME.zip’ file to your computer.
Step 2
In your WordPress dashboard navigate to Appearance > Themes and click on Add New.
Locate the roofing-div-child-theme.zip file in the Roofing_Divi_Child_Theme_UNPACKME folder on your computer and then click Install Now.
When the install is complete click on ‘Activate’, you will then see the Roofing Child Theme as the active theme in your theme panel.
Step 3
After activating Roofing, you will see at the top:
This theme recommends the following plugins: Sticky Menu (or Anything!) on Scroll.
Begin installing this plugin by clicking on Begin installing plugins.
On the next screen, you need to check the plugin and choose to install in the dropdown. Hit apply, and the progress will begin.
When the progress has finished click on “Return to Required Plugins Installer.”
Now you need to activate the plugin.
Step 4
Go to Divi > Theme Options. Click on the import/export options (up/down arrow).
Click on Import and upload Roofing Theme Options.json.
Go to Divi > Theme Builder. Click on the import/export options.
Click on Import and upload Roofing Builder Templates.json.
Go to Divi > Theme Customizer. Click on the import/export options (up/down arrow).
Click on Import and upload Roofing Customizer Settings.json.
Go to Divi > Divi Library. Click on the import/export options.
Click on Import and upload Roofing Builder Layouts.json.
Step 5
Go to Settings > Sticky Menu (or Anything!)
In the sticky element field, add the following .contact_fixed_home
Space between top of page and sticky element: (optional): 75px

Go to the advanced settings tab and in the field Z-index fill in 999
In the Push-up element (optional): #custom_footer

Step 6
Go to Pages > Add New. Give your page a name for example Home.
Click on Use Divi Builder
Click on choose a premade layout
Go to the tab Your Saved Layouts
Here you will find all the pages from the demo. Load the Home page Roofing and publish it.
To add the other pages as in the demo you do the same steps as above.
Step 7
Go to Appearance > Menus and create a menu and add your page(s) to it.
Go to Settings > Reading. Check A static page
Set Homepage: to your home page
Leave the post page unset
Add images to the homepage gallery section DESKTOP
Add background images for each tile (1 to 6) on hover
Step 1
Upload 6 images in your media library that you want to use as a backgound when you hover over a tile. Upload images that have atleast a size of 1400x700px. I do recommend to make the mb size of the images as low as possible.
Step 2
Go to appreance > editor scroll down to around line 63 and you will see this:
At line 66, 70, 74, 78, 83 and 87 you can replace INSERT_IMAGE_URL_HERE with the images you just uploaded in step 1. IMAGE GRID 1 is for tile 1 etc.
How to get the image link
To get the image link go to your media library and click on the image you want to use as a background.

Then replace INSERT_IMAGE_URL_HERE with your image, like this:

Do the same for the others.
Step 3
When you did the steps above your image grid will work. However the images will start loading until you hover over a title this will cause a small delay. To avoid this we need to preload the images. At line 95 to 106 you can insert the same URL’s that you did previous.
I also add here the icons on hover in the image grid so that those are preloaded as well.

Homepage gallery section TABLET/MOBILE
For the tablet and mobile I have created a services section with out the images because you can’t hover on mobile devices so this are direct links.
Add an arrow icon before menu item
Place the following fontawesome code before a menu item or title:
<i class="fas fa-chevron-right"></i>

Creating a blog post
To create a blog post with the same layout as Roofing you do the following:
Go to Posts > Add New
Go to Load From Library > Add From Library and choose Single Post Roofing.
In the right upper right corner, you find the Divi Post Settings. Make the following adjustments:
Page Layout: Full Width
Post Title: Hide
